WILLEMSTAD — The Central Statistical Office (CBS) will start its half-yearly cyclical survey on Curaçao this month. The purpose of this survey is to provide current information on business and economic developments.

CBS will interview over 750 companies of which approximately 350 through pollsters who will hand out the questionnaire and if desired assist the companies in filling this out. Most of the companies will receive the questionnaire per e-mail. The survey held every half year since 2003 will include all companies with ten or more employees while a random sample survey will be carried out among smaller companies (less than 10 employees).

The questions will include estimations of the turnover, the personnel costs and number of employees in the second half of 2012. Companies will also be asked their opinion on several indicators, for instance, investment impediments, competitive position, confidence in doing business and investment climate. “With this information the government and entrepreneurs can take decisions better and quicker. Of course, the input of the business community is very important for this survey. CBS therefore incites all companies involved to assist with this survey and thanks them in advance for their efforts”, CBS wrote in a press report. The survey will be carried out entirely confidential in conformity with the Statistics Law.
