KRALENDIJK — Institute Care and Treatment for Drug Addicts and Psychiatry Caribbean Netherlands (SVP-CN) on St. Eustatius and Saba will expand the team tomorrow with two psychiatrists, one child and juvenile psychiatrist and one clinic/health psychologist.The new workers will be introduced during a meeting of the Board of Governors in which the vision, procedure of care for patients with psychiatric and addiction problems will be discussed. The vision, procedure of care for patients with psychiatric problems, addiction problems and related psychiatric problems will also be elucidated.
The two new psychiatrists, Jatinder Kour and Sachin Gandotra, from the Mental Health Foundation St. Maarten and (the successors of Glenn Matroos), child and juvenile psychiatrist Cheryl Ferero and clinic/health psychologist Carmencita Chermont, are responsible for the psychiatric care and care and treatment of drug addicts on St. Eustatius and Saba, together with other stakeholders.
The conversation with the Board of Governors of St. Eustatius will be followed by a meeting in Ruby’s Inn from one to four tomorrow afternoon with all local doctors, social-psychiatric nurses and general nursing staff. Later on this year it is the intention to organize a seminar and information meeting for stakeholders and the general public. The new workers will be soon introduced to the stakeholders on Saba.
The Center for Care and Treatment of Drug Addicts and Psychiatry in the former Pink Building on Rosemary Lane was officially opened on February 18th 2011. The center is currently part of the Institute Care and Treatment of Drug Addicts and Psychiatry Caribbean Netherlands (SVP-CN), which also offers services to patients on St. Eustatius, Saba and Bonaire.
